Flow Like Water

One of the elements that Stars, Sharks and Shells LLC believes in is water. The element of water represents recovery/rejuvenation/relaxation.

Water is essential for all life including ours. We can only survive for days without water. Water makes up about 60% of our bodies so it makes sense that we need to keep ourselves hydrated. Water can help us in other ways as well.

The recommendations are for adults to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Some might need more and some might need less depending on body size. Obviously one can drink water, but you can get water from other sources like tea, coffee, soda, juice, and fruit. You can even flavor your water with fruit to help you drink the amount that you need. When consuming beverages like coffee, tea, soda and juice, you need to keep an eye on your caffeine and sugar intake. Caffeine is a diuretic, so it can dehydrate you, which is the opposite of what you are trying to do. Sugar can dehydrate you as well, but it also may be providing some unnecessary calories.

Staying hydrated helps to keep our bodies working at their best. Not only that, but staying hydrated can help us to shorten our recovery time between workouts. For every pound you lose while working out (weighing before and after), you need to drink 24 oz ( 3 cups) of water to replenish what you lost.

Hydrotherapy is a known form of healing our aching muscles from hard strenuous work. Taking salt baths or even just soaking in warm water can help to lessen the inflammation that our muscles are going through. On the flip side, doing cold showers or a cold plunge can help reduce inflammation too.

Listening to the sound of water, whether if it’s a trickling fountain, gentle rain, a babbling creek or ocean waves, helps us to relax. Relaxing our bodies is just as important as working our bodies out. When we can let ourselves relax, we replenish our reserves and thus we can feel rejuvenated to face the day!

Also, water has the unique ability to take the shape of whatever container it may find itself in. This uniqueness allows it to flow into and out of anything. If you have ever just allowed yourself to float on water, isn't it the most relaxing feeling in the world? We need to allow ourselves to go with the flow and not be so stressed about life.

Water is an essential element that all life depends on. Not only does it keep our bodies working properly, it also helps with our attempts to recover and relax from our daily lives.

We all need to rest and take time for ourselves, it helps our muscles recover as well as helping our minds find peace. Everyone deserves rest and relaxation.

If you are struggling with finding ways to help yourself find time to recover and relax, I can help you with that. Click on the Contact link at the top of the page and reach out to me.
